Seen
through the eyes of his main character Tomek, director
Robert Glinski takes a look into the dark world of child
prostitution occurring in a poor town on the German
and Polish border in his new film Piggies. Tomek is
an extremely smart and good natured boy who has everything
going for him, despite the lack of support from his
family. He knows other children like his friend Ciemny
sell themselves for money, but ignores it occupying
himself with his studies. His peaceful life changes
when he finds he needs money to maintain the new girlfriend
he's infatuated with. Hopelessly trying to earn honest
money, he inevitably finds prostituting himself to be
the only way to make what he needs. Feeling he has nobody
to turn to, Tomek falls deeper and deeper down the ugly
path so many of his peers have already gone. An emotionally
charged film, Piggies is a shocking story of corrupted
youth.
