Teenager
Nina Rajnic, despite the growing persecution of Jews
right before WW II, comes home to Lodz, Poland, from
New York, where she was visiting her family. In winter
1940, the Rajnic family moves to Warsaw and a year later,
they end up in the Warsaw ghetto. Nina graduates from
high school there, falls in love for the first time,
and goes through the nightmare of ghetto liquidation.
Nina and her brother, Rudek, have their lives saved
thanks to their contacts with non-Jewish friends from
the other side of the ghetto. They are the only ones
from the entire family who survive. After the war ends,
Nina goes to medical school, meets her future husband,
Jezry Einhorn; they immigrate to Sweden together. Later,
they open a world-class cancer clinic there. Dr. Nina
Einhorn, the film's main character, is the film's narrator.
The director and scriptwriter is her daughter, Lena.
