This poetic and visually engaging film follows a young woman during the last day of her summer holiday. As she strolls along the deserted dunes of the Baltic shore, she happens along a drowning man whom she saves from the turbulent waters. The two characters remain nameless throughout the film and stand as symbols of a young Polish nation coming to terms with the fallout from World War II. Throughout the film they attempt to reach out to one another, trying to act out normal every day events like cooking and sharing a meal, but both are haunted by tangible memories of the war and agonize over the uncertain future that lies ahead of them.
