Franciszek, a young man in his twenties, accidentally witnesses a theft of precious painting from a small Warsaw church. He records the whole incident with his amateur camera. The thief turns out to be Benedykt Weber, a respected gallery owner and art expert. The young filmmaker promises not to denounce Weber, yet he demands that the painting must be returned to its place. Unfortunately, the work of art is due to leave the country...
